CSA’s Coastal and Ocean Sciences Business Line focuses on governmental projects conducted for federal, state, regional, county, and local governments, as well as commercial projects for a variety of industrial customers.

These projects include:

  • nearshore and offshore biological, geological, chemical, and physical oceanographic data collection
  • reef and hard bottom surveys
  • environmental assessments and impact statements
  • biological impact and compliance monitoring
  • ocean dredged material disposal site surveys
  • marine habitat mapping
  • site clearance surveys
  • hydrographic and bathymetric surveys
  • data and literature reviews
  • various types of permitting

Because Florida beach renourishment has become a high-profile issue, the Coastal and Ocean Sciences Business Line has made providing environmental services associated with sand source management its priority.  The number of projects associated with beach nourishment has increased dramatically over the past 2 years; these studies are typically multi-year and done under subcontracts with various engineering firms.  Sea‑level rise and recent hurricane impacts are other areas of concern.  CSA’s in-house specialized staff and small vessel fleet enables us to provide responsive capabilities while working under difficult physical conditions in dynamic nearshore environments.
