Tyco Telecommunications, Inc. (Tyco) contracted CSA International, Inc. (CSA) to coordinate all environmental analysis and permitting activities for the approximately 15,000-km (8,099-mi) long Segment 4 section of the Europe to
CSA is providing comprehensive consulting services in support of permit acquisition (i.e., permissions, authorizations, consents, approvals, concurrences, licenses, agreements, notifications, etc.) within each of the landing countries as required for the ownership, construction, installation, maintenance, repair, and decommissioning of the EIG system. CSA’s responsibilities include the management and procurement of all permits necessary for the system’s terrestrial and marine infrastructure. Permit procurement responsibilities include the following:
- All Proprietary Permits or permits that relate to the right of land or seabed ownership, occupancy, or use;
- All Regulatory Permits or permits that relate to the authority of an entity of the government to limit certain activities on private and publicly owned lands; and
- All Third-Party Crossing Agreements that are required where the cable route crosses other terrestrial, marine, and seabed users with established rights based on property ownership or historical use (e.g., tradition or custom).
Examples include agreements with native peoples, subsistence and commercial fishing entities, pipeline and cable owners, military branches, and hydrocarbon and mineral lease block owners or lessees.
