CSA Planning is unique in our focus on hazard mitigation planning and our ability to unite emergency management with community planning. Integrating hazard mitigation into local everyday planning is one of our central pursuits, and we have been able to directly assist 32 counties and 10 municipalities in Florida to begin this important integration into their local comprehensive plans. CSA also has created the standard for local government Post-Disaster Redevelopment Plans (PDRPs). These plans build disaster resiliency and guide decisions that affect long-term recovery and redevelopment of a community after a disaster. We have developed a guidebook on post-disaster redevelopment planning for the State of Florida that was based on our experience developing several local PDRPs that have gained national recognition. CSA Planning staff is also assisting communities in adapting to climate change impacts. We drafted a Sea Level Rise Response Strategy for Worcester County, Maryland that identified and assessed response options for the projected impacts of accelerated sea level rise.
CSA has established expertise in wildfire hazards, preparing Community Wildfire Protection Plans (CWPPs) for over 10 communities, and positioning itself at the forefront of wildfire education efforts by participating in the development and update of the Wildfire Risk Reduction in Florida guidebook and conducting and assessing wildfire mitigation workshops. We are currently assisting state agencies in developing a more in-depth treatment of wildfire mitigation in the State of Florida Hazard Mitigation Plan.
Our team has developed a variety of multi-hazard mitigation plans consistent with regulations in the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000. Currently, we are assisting several parishes in Louisiana in updating their local hazard mitigation plans to create more effective mitigation strategies and shovel-ready projects. We also have reviewed and updated comprehensive emergency management plans and conducted emergency planning workshops. In addition to plan development and analysis, we offer grant writing, workshop and training development, and facilitation services.
Our competence is built on our background and expertise in urban and regional planning. CSA has been involved in the preparation of local comprehensive plans and evaluation and appraisal reports in Florida, a state renowned for its growth and coastal management regulations.
