CSA International, Inc. (CSA) has prepared a Wildfire Mitigation Annex for the Florida Division Forest Services, which will be integrated into the Florida State Hazard Mitigation Plan. This work effort involved preparing an updated risk and vulnerability analysis for wildfire to enable State and local governments to better prepare for and mitigate wildfire risk in their communities. The project oversight was provided by an Interagency Working Group (IWG) consisting of local, State, and Federal representatives working together to create a long-term strategic wildfire mitigation strategy and program. A risk and vulnerability assessment was created from the best available data to determine areas of high, medium, and low risk for wildfire. The IWG formulated goals and strategies for reducing risks based on Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 requirements. To satisfy the requirements of Enhanced Plan status, successful past wildfire mitigation projects in Florida will be profiled. Following approval by the Florida Division of Forestry and Florida Division of Emergency Management, the Annex will become a part of the Enhanced State Hazard Mitigation Plan.
