Navy Projects
CSA has worked for the Navy since the 1980s on various projects, including NEPA environmental impact statements and related document preparation for ship shock trials and additional Navy activities, aerial surveys to assess marine mammal and other endangered species populations, benthic characterization along the U.S. Atlantic coast and in the southeastern Gulf of Mexico, and monitoring environmental impacts associated with dredging.
CSA International, Inc. (CSA) was instrumental in providing environmental services in preparation for and approval of underwater explosive (UNDEX) testing of the SEAWOLF submarine and WINSTON CHURCHILL (DDG 81) guided missile destroyer. (CSA) prepared a Comprehensive Range Management Plan (CRMP) and two Environmental Reviews (ERs) for the Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) facilities, operations, and ranges under strict time schedules, which allowed the Navy to avoid losses of funding allocations. CSA International, Inc. (CSA) conducted assessments of the potential environmental impacts associated with Navy aircraft, surface vessel, and submarine operations off southern South Carolina, Georgia, and northeastern Florida. The assessments focused on an aerial survey program designed by CSA to collect data on the distributions and relative abundances of endangered and threatened species, with particular emphasis on the North Atlantic right whale (Eubalaena glacialis).
